Structural Assessment of a Commercial Building in Southport to Facilitate Gym Loads

Project Structural Assessment Report for a Proposed Gym Loading in an Existing Structure
Client Ray White Commercial
Project Value < $100k
Project Overview The client enquired about the structural capacity of an existing structure to support a new gym to be erected. The live load capacity of the structure needs to meet the requirements of the load bearing capacity for a gym.
JJR Involvement The project involved an on-site inspection to undertake a site survey and to establish structural geometry and layout. The elements included in the inspection were limited to internal areas and the external walls.

A final report summarised that the structure was unable to carry live loads greater than 4kPa and therefore was unable to be certified for gym use, which requires a structural load bearing capacity of 5kPa live load.
