Project Overview The Airport Planning and Commercial team is responsible for Virgin Australia’s Airport infrastructure requirements in the short, medium and long term and the costs associated with meeting those requirements.

This engagement involved the following:

  • Short, medium and long-term infrastructure planning.
  • Strategic review, assessment and governance of Airport infrastructure projects.
  • Ensuring Virgin Australia’s strategic goals related to Airport infrastructure were met.
  • Undertaking feasibility assessments of Airport infrastructure projects.
  • Project planning and design with Airports and oversight of scope/budget.
  • Assisting with Airport negotiations.
  • Development of a program of works for the Airport Planning & Commercial teams.
JJR Involvement Systems were developed to allow Virgin Australia Airlines to forecast infrastructure needs and identify capital works programs that would be required to meet demand requirements.

Various airfield, terminal and landside infrastructure projects were progressed at the following airports:

  • Nadi (Fiji) International Airport (Terminal, Ring Road and Car Parking).
  • Apia (Samoa) International Airport (Aprons, Taxiways, Terminal, Ring Road and Car Parking).
  • Brisbane Airport (Check-in Redevelopment / Ground Transformation).
  • Perth Airport (Terminal Relocation and Construction of New Facilities including Check-in, Boarding Gates, Back of House, Engineering Huts as well as Premium and Club Lounges).
  • Melbourne Airport (Short, Medium and Long Term Infrastructure Planning).
  • Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth Airports (Ground Transformation Programme) involving the roll-out of self-service check-in systems.
