Project Overview JJR were engaged by Wagga Wagga City Council to conduct an annual aerodrome technical inspection of the Wagga Wagga Aerodrome facilities.
JJR Involvement JJR conducted an annual technical inspection of the Wagga Wagga Aerodrome facilities with a focus on ensuring:

  • Staff were adequately trained in safety related procedures;
  • Airport management was aware of safety related functions;
  • The physical characteristics of the airport complied with relevant standards and were of adequate safety;
  • Operating procedures were consistent with the Wagga Wagga Aerodrome manual and appropriate for the level of aircraft activity; and
  • The airport complied with the requirements for a certified aerodrome according to the Commonwealth’s Civil Aviation Safety Regulations.

In order to ensure the airport complied with the above the following was conducted:

  • Inspection for non-compliance with MOS Part 139;
  • Instrument survey of the approach, take-off and transitional surfaces of the airport runway;
  • Inspection of movement area pavements and drainage;
  • Inspection of facilities at the aerodrome used for either wildlife hazard management or aerodrome emergencies;
  • Review of the safety or risk management plan;
  • Inspection of airside vehicle control arrangements; and
  • A check for the currency and accuracy of aerodrome information in the Aeronautical Information Package and aerodrome operating procedures in the Wagga Wagga Aerodrome manual.
