| Project Overview | The Council of Ararat was replacing two bridges single span or multiple span bridges over the Wimmera River on the Landsborough-Elmhurst Road.
The superstructures of the existing bridges consisted of seven precast concrete U beams on crossheads, and the substructures consisted of an abutment crosshead sitting on concrete piles and piers, with the crosshead supporting the U beams sitting on the top of the pile cap. The overall width of the bridges was 5.32 m, and were around 18m and 36m long. |
| JJR Involvement | JJR developed the documentation for the Design & Construct Tender Brief, and also oversaw development of the bridge design, to ensure that designs were consistent with the SM 1600 standards, to ensure a 100 year asset life-cycle, and to ensure that improvement of the waterway capacity was included in the design parameters to address cases where flooding had over-topped the existing structures. |
