Project Don Tatnelle and Mordialloc Community Centre – Structural Investigation
Client Kingston City Council
Project Value $1M – $10M
Project Overview For this project, an urgent structural inspection of the Don Tatnell Leisure Centre and Mordialloc Community Centre was conducted.

The aim of the inspection for the Don Tatnell leisure centre was to identify and report on all structural defects including details of corrective recommendations and costings. With regards to the inspection of the Mordialloc Community Centre, the inspection was limited to identifying defects at a high level.

Additionally, the structural inspections involved an urgent geotechnical investigation into the foundation of the Don Tatnell Leisure Centre as a large amount of water had been lost underneath the building prompting concern regarding underground washaway and the structural integrity of the structure’s foundation.

JJR Involvement JJR identified structural defects within both community centres and oversaw a geotechnical investigation involving the probing of footings and void/sinkhole investigations.

JJR also performed a risk assessment concerning structural defects with remediation options, cost estimate, and condition ratings, and provided justification as to whether the building was repairable.
