Condamine River Water Pump Station Upgrades

Project Condamine River Water Pump Station Upgrades
Client Western Downs Regional Council
Project Value $1M – $10M
Project Overview Council required detailed design services to upgrade the River Water Pump Station at Condamine, including design of a new submerged pump system and associated pipeline infrastructure.
JJR Involvement The existing pump facility was located on the bank of the Condamine River, and also required increased flood resilience.

JJR were engaged to perform site investigations and data collection, as well as to develop a strategy for the stabilisation of existing river embankments, create a design on dual envelopment pipelines from river to treatment plant, and create a design of the pipeline’s construction through the bank, ensuring not to restrict vehicle access along the bank.

In order to provide the detailed design for the water pump station JJR:

  • Investigated the existing pipelines and pump details;
  • Undertook a site visit, site survey and reviewed existing drawings of the river intake pump station;
  • Developed the current pipeline installation method;
  • Provided the alternative paths for the water intake conduit and pipelines;
  • Investigated the existing pump technical specifications and prepared a general technical specification for the submersible pump;
  • Provided an options analysis for the replacement of existing intake river pumps; and

Provided a detailed design of the conduit alignment and foundation requirements.
