Cairns Airport Pty Ltd

Project Overview :

Cairns Airport Pty Ltd (CAPL) engaged JJR to provide a downwash impact assessment for the existing helicopter operations. Cairn Airport is in far north Queensland and supports domestic and international flights, which provides regional visitors with access to the Great Barrier Reef.

JJR Involvement :

JJR’s expert team conducted a downwash impact assessment of helicopter operations, which included impact on buildings adjacent to the proposed Helicopter Landing Site (HLS), and compliance with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) Part 139 (Aerodromes) Manual of Standards 2019 (Part 139 MOS). The client was provided with a report, which included the estimated downwash velocity caused by the rotorcraft, downwash assessment methodology, wind analysis, calculations, and recommendations to mitigate any adverse effect on adjacent buildings.
