JJR provided Calder Park Raceway with engineering design services related to track and drainage improvements.
The client was proposing to undertake rehabilitation works to improve the drag strip and adjacent racetrack area through a combination of resurfacing and patching of the existing pavement.
JJR reviewed existing information and plans of the site, and also conducted a survey of the site to gather existing geometry and further understand the nature of the existing drainage at the site.
JJR outlined these results in a report, which outlined options available to address the current drainage issues. This report included a least cost option utilising the existing track geometry as much as possible, an option to adjust the track geometry to achieve compliance with the relevant racing circuit standards such as Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) standards, Confederation of Australian Motor Sport standards (CAMS), as well as additional requirements imposed by the Australian National Drag Racing Association (ANDRA) and the Australian Auto-Sport Alliance (AASA), and also potential sub-options for new subsurface drainage infrastructure to confine varying storm events to subsurface drainage.
JJR’s report also included a high-level, budget cost estimate for the works and concept design drawings for each option.
