Project Overview :

To70 Aviation (Australia) Pty Ltd engaged JJR to provide a rotor downwash impact assessment. The assessment focused on helicopter operations originating from the helipad on K Block and the newly constructed A Block facade at the Royal Hobart Hospital, situated in the heart of the Hobart CBD.

JJR Involvement :

JJR’s expert team investigated the impact of helicopter downwash on the A block façade location to determine the suitability of the proposed facade design in compliance with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) Part 139 (Aerodromes) Manual of Standards 2019 (Part 139 MOS).
The client received a Final Structural Certification, affirming that wind speeds surpass the AS 1170.2 requirements. Additionally, comprehensive calculations were provided to ensure adherence to the specified helicopter downwash loads during operations.
