Acoustic Testing Assessment at Royal Hobart Hospital, Tasmania
Project :
Acoustic Testing Assessment at Royal Hobart Hospital, Tasmania
Client :
To70 Aviation (Australia) Pty Ltd
Project Value :
Project Overview :

To70 Aviation (Australia) Pty Ltd engaged JJR to establish acoustic design criteria to ensure the hospital building new building façade will achieve adequate acoustic internal isolation from air vehicle noise associated with the helipad at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

JJR Involvement :

JJR’s experienced engineers developed internal noise acoustic criteria for the hospital’s new building façade based on:
• AS/NZS 2021:2000 Acoustics – Aircraft noise intrusion – Building siting and construction.
• Association of Australasian Acoustical Consultants (AAAC) Guideline for healthcare facilities; and
• JJR’s previous experience with similar facilities.
A site inspection was undertaken to measure noise from air vehicles using the helipad, which were input into acoustic modelling to develop suitable acoustic design criteria. An acoustic report was submitted to the client, which included acoustic design requirements or the hospital to ensure internal noise for the redeveloped building will provide satisfactory isolation from air vehicles using the helipad.
